8 Reasons Why Business Besties are the Best
"I would love to have business besties, but I don't have anything to collaborate on right now."
This message showed up in my inbox one day and got me thinking...
Is there a preconceived notion in our online business world that the only reason we need business besties is to collaborate on stuff?
Business besties serve such a greater purpose than a one time collaboration.
Yes, collaboration is one of the many benefits of having a business bestie, but it is so not the only reason.
Your business besties are in your life, so you can:
01. INSPIRE EACH OTHER
No matter how much we meditate, journal, and workout, sometimes you just need a friend to talk to and spark that creativity inside of you again.
02. HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE
Big dreams and goals are achieved in the small actions to do every single day. Sometimes, those tasks are pretty mundane and we need a friend to hold us accountable.
03. GIVE + GET A SECOND OPINION
As a creative, you know first hand what this process feels like. We need business besties to swoop in and give us a second opinion on our work before we get sucked into the "I am shit" phase.
04. SUPPORT + GUIDE EACH OTHER
Being on the entrepreneurial roller coaster is hard. Sometimes we just need a cheerleader in our corner, someone to give us permission, or guide us towards the right decision. Business besties can do that.
05. SAY + HEAR THE WORDS "ME TOO"
I could go all Brené Brown on you here and talk about how we need connection to survive and to talk about the things we feel shame around, but instead I'll keep it simple. Sometimes you just need someone who gets what you're going through — someone to say, "Me too. I've been there."
06. CELEBRATE EACH OTHER
Book your dream client? Reach the nearly impossible inbox zero? Get asked to be a speaker at a conference?
WE NEED TO CELEBRATE OUR WINS — both the big and small ones. It's way more fun to celebrate with people who get it.
07. SHARE THE GOOD NEWS
Having a creative wolfpack who believes in what you're doing, makes launching your new idea out into the world way less scary. You do it knowing you have besties who have your back and who genuinely want to share what you're doing with their communities too.
08. REACH SUCCESS TOGETHER
Imagine yourself at the top of the mountain having everything you've ever wanted. Now look to your left, look to your right, and tell me who's there with you? I don't know about you, but I want to see my business besties there with me on top of that mountain — the ones who have been there with me from the very scrappy start.
So yes, collaborations are an amazing perk to having business besties, but they're not the only reason to find your tribe.
The best collaborations normally happen after you've built a relationship and found a true business bestie.
